The IQA Reports Record Growth and Engagement in 2024-2025 Year in Review

The IQA released its 2024-2025 Year in Review, revealing significant achievements and strong engagement across the organisation.

Tabled at the National AGM on 28 October 2025, the report highlights a transformative year that saw membership grow by 6% to 1,788 members, with total event attendance reaching an unprecedented 4,198 across 67 branch events nationwide.

Conference Sets New Records
The standout achievement was the 2024 National Conference in Adelaide, which attracted 635 delegates, 77 exhibitors, and 52 speakers. For the first time, the IQA introduced a student engagement initiative, welcoming 60 secondary students to explore career pathways in the sector.

Education and Training Expand
The IQA delivered 63 education courses to 917 participants from 177 organisations, achieving a 97% satisfaction rate. New self-paced learning programs attracted more than 115 enrolments.

Two major member initiatives launched during the year: the IQA Mentoring Program (50 participants) and the IQA Ambassador Program (28 ambassadors across all states).

"In my first full year as CEO, I have been inspired by the commitment of our members and partners to the IQA's purpose: advancing the quarrying and essential construction materials sector through education, connection, and collaboration," said Jane Schmitt, IQA Chief Executive Officer.

New Initiatives Strengthen Member Support
Two significant member programs launched during the year:

  • IQA Mentoring Program (May 2025): Successfully connected 50 participants in structured six-month mentoring relationships
  • IQA Ambassador Program (September 2024): Engaged 28 ambassadors across all states to support new and existing members

Women in Quarrying (WIQ) and Young Member Network (YMN) initiatives continued to expand, with the Victoria WIQ Luncheon attracting 165 attendees in June 2025.

Strong Financial Performance
Total revenue reached $2.44 million, with sponsorship revenue increasing to $290,876. The IQA thanks all 83 National and State Sponsors for their continued support

Looking Ahead
IQA President Michael Close reflected on the year's achievements: "As we look forward to the year ahead, I want to thank our members, sponsors, and volunteers for their ongoing support. Your contribution ensures the IQA remains a strong, contemporary, and respected voice for our sector."

Key initiatives planned for 2025-2026 include the launch of the new IQA website and member app 'IQA Connect', a national public awareness campaign, and the 2026 National Conference on the Gold Coast.
